This week is going to be a special week: PhotoDeck turns one! A year ago this week is when we launched PhotoDeck as a commercial service. Time flies when you're passionate about what you do!
To kick-off this anniversary week, we've just deployed two improvements to our members' websites.
Better, nicer client login
We have killed the drop-down login box that appeared when clients would click on the "Client login" (or whatever name you gave it) link. Instead, we now use a more modern-looking popup effect over a semi-transparent background for the login dialog.
And if the client is already logged-in, we take him directly to his dashboard on your website, where he'll find his lightboxes, shared galleries, orders, etc... So this makes clients' life easier too.
Naturally, the pop-up effect's style is customizable via the Style and Layout editor.
Customizable Search Results
The search engine within every PhotoDeck website is powerful. It indexes images based on all their metadata, and is able to sort results by relevance, weighting a number of criterias.
But PhotoDeck is used by a wide variety of photographers, and thanks to our members' feedback, we also recognized that in some cases (e.g. for event photographers), freshness trumps metadata-based relevance.
So we've now introduced a way to choose how search results should be ordered: by relevance (as until now), by upload or update time, or with a combination of both. Members will find the settings in their admin panel under My Website / General Settings / Search Engine.
And the week is just starting!
Tomorrow, we'll publish the final part of The Photographer's SEO Pyramid, our free guide to help photographers better focus their SEO efforts -- And we'll have more news connected to our first anniversary later this week. You won't want to miss them!
