Gallery Display Styles, redesigned from the ground up!

Today, we’re excited to announce a major update designed to give you even more flexibility and control over how your display your images and videos. This update provides new ways to showcase your work, streamline client interactions, and increase your sales potential.

Gallery display styles are a cornerstone of PhotoDeck’s exceptional flexibility: they allow different galleries to serve vastly different purposes each in an optimal way, from minimalist portfolios to feature-rich client galleries or print shops.

At the core of today’s update, we’ve completely rebuilt the foundation under the display gallery styles.

Additional gallery display styles

The most immediate benefit is that new gallery display styles with advanced layouts have been created: the E-shop, Stock Photography and File Management styles complement the Portfolio, Proofing, Blog and Standard styles that our members are already familiar with:

• The E-shop style is ideal for photographers who want to sell prints and digital downloads. It lets you build shops with a user interface similar to Shopify or WooCommerce, but at scale, for thousands or dozens of thousands of images and videos;
• The Stock Photography style, for individual photographers or agencies selling licenses on their own website, presents files in a neat two-column layout with prominent metadata and pricing buttons, like on major stock agencies;
• And the File Management style is designed for organizations using PhotoDeck as their Digital Asset Management platform. It displays thumbnails and files in a way more akin to file managers.

In addition, we’ve refreshed the existing gallery display styles, and the Proofing style has been renamed into Client Gallery for clarity.

The big one: meet the new gallery style editor

This update isn’t just about new styles — it’s about giving our members creative control so they can ensure their galleries match their business objectives and brand, not only in function but also in form.

The new gallery style editor is where the magic happens: it lets our more advanced members customize the gallery styles (and create new ones) with unprecedented control and flexibility, with the same visual editor used for content on custom pages.

For example:

• Moving file info to the side of the image/video to optimize the use of screen estate? No problem.
• Moving a specific button to a different location in the page to make it easier for clients to purchase? No problem.
• Adding a prominent search box to all galleries to make it easier for customers to find the images they need? No problem.

Related improvements

We’re used to going the extra mile, so as part of this major update a few additional things have been improved:

• A new option for larger thumbnails in the “horizontal wall” mode has been added;
• The options to display thumbnails as a neat grid instead of a wall have been completely redesigned;
• Most icons both in the admin space and on front-end websites have been redesigned;
